    Modders are players too, and they add what they personally like, which doesn't mean that everyone else will. Others may simply not like Calamity's content, and therefore won't use it. Others may feel that, in fact, Terraria has enough content (or even too much) as it is, so aren't looking for anything that in their eyes 'bloats' the core game (something the current Terraria developers are already very wary of).

    That is not to say that Calamity is a bad mod (I've never played it, or any mod for that matter, so I'm not in a position to judge), only that modding a game is substantially different than working on the core game itself, both from a technical point of view (modifying the source code and adding content through classes are very dissimilar) as well as process-wise. Designing good content, implementing it, running it through rigorous QA testing and ensuring it doesn't invalidate or compromise existing content, all while keeping in line with the game's concept and vision, is definitely not. Here's the thing: designing content is easy.
